摘要：his work proposes an investigation of direct speech in journalistic texts, based on Mental Space Theory (FAUCONNIER 1994, 1997). With special reference to the cognitive process of blending (FAUCONNIER & TURNER 1996), refined by SALOMÃO (1999) to account for reported speech, it is argued that reported speech cannot be divided into frozen categories, as it is traditionally suggested, but it can be viewed as points in a perspectivization scale.
