I lived and worked in Texas. Ann, my wife, lived and worked in Nebraska at the time. She taught English at McCook Community College. As our long-distance relationship blossomed, she told her mother and father that she had started dating a guy who lived in Texas. She told them that he once chased rodeos, and was now a university professor.
