摘要：AODV is Source Initiated Routing Protocol (Reactive Protocol). AODV Protocols are different from Traditional Proactive Protocols. Since in Proactive Protocols, the Routing Mechanism is based on Periodic Updates. This leads to high Routing Overhead. The key goal in designing this Protocol is to reduce Overhead. Routing Messages in AODV can be divided into Route Discovery and Route Maintenance Messages. Route Discovery includes the Route Request (RREQ) and Route Maintenance deals with Route Reply (RREP).when link breaks due to any reason; it broadcasts Route Error (RERR) to the originator of the Packet. Also each node can get to know its neighborhood by using local broadcasts, so-called HELLO messages. In AODV, No Routing Structure is created prior.
