摘要：The recent advances in fingerprint sensing technology and improvements in the accuracy and matching speed of the fingerprint matching algorithms has inspired many groups to conduct researches in Automatic Fingerprint Identification and Authentication (AFIA) which is becoming an attractive alternative to the traditional methods of identification. Fingerprint classification plays a major role in any large scale fingerprint identification system. While it cannot identify fingerprints uniquely, it is helpful in determining when two fingerprints do not match and also it reduces the time complexity. This paper presents a detailed review on the existing classification approaches that have applied to fingerprint recognition problems. The explanation in this paper covers the various evaluation parameters used by AFIS classification approaches.
