  • 摘要:In traditional cryptography protecting the key is the main problem. When the key is compromised there will be no security to the system where such cryptography is being used. To overcome this problem security can be based on quantum mechanics and such technique is known as quantum cryptography. This paper presents a quantum key distribution model which provides complete security in large networks. It uses both quantum cryptography and also classical cryptography. In this kind of key distribution, three parties are involved. It is implemented in two ways in this paper one with implicit user authentication and the other with explicit mutual authentication. Since from its inception, the QKD has its progress in providing foolproof security to large networks. Due to its reliability commercial products are also being developed using QKD techniques. It has become a reliable alternative in the real world systems. It involves a network with multiple users located at any corner of the world. Development and deployment of such QKD network is nontrivial. This paper presents requirements of a QKD architecture with network design, services and protocols that provides total security. It can prevent attacks such as replay, eavesdropping and man-in-the-middle. It also helps reduce communication overhead. The empirical results revealed that the proposed QKD model is secure and can be used in real time applications
