摘要：This paper discusses the definition of identify theft and the ramifications for the banking industry. In today’s environment of on-line banking and e- commerce, ID theft has become a serious problem. Not only can banks lose the confidence and goodwill of their customers, but legal sanctions/actions can result from the bank’s not protecting the consumer. While banks focus on protecting the consumer’s information, it is imperative that customers follow the correct procedures and take precautionary measures to protect their information and transactions.
