摘要：The objective of this research was to find a sound indicator to provide timely warnings to emerging economies of approaching debt crises. To achieve this, we used the solvency ratio of external-debt (SRED) as an analytical tool, by applying it to the case of Turkish external debt between 1980 and 2009. Analysis of our results indicated that the SRED was a powerful indicator of Turkey’s external debt crisis.
