摘要:The present paper is a humble attempt to analyze the poem 'Devibhen Pathak' by Sujata Bhatt from her collection Monkey Shadows. The poem is significant for its inherent value as literary studies and for the practical value as an example of the best scholarly yet completely unconventional expression. It is an example of the social concern of a poet through mythical, traditional and innocent experiences of Indian childhood which is expressed through the protagonist Deviben Pathak and the facts and reality with historical and cultural experience of Bhatt's present life in Germany. It also reflects socio-economic veracity of the middle class family in India. Though a poem is concluded with an emotional pendulum and mysticism, it also states the unerring facts that is very difficult to bridge the gap between cultures through the symbol of swastika. A brilliant use of code mixing technique is the speciality of the poem 'Devibhen Pathak'. Bhatt finds herself clutched between cultural and geographical boundaries which give birth to inner conflict.
