摘要：The purpose of this paper is to study the emerging trends in the short story writing in the post independence era. The story writers concerns are no more bound to one time slot one subject but have acquired a multiple dimensions. Political social changes in the society have its bearing on the style and subject matter of the story. The story writing in English has emerged as on off shoot outcome impact of western education and introduction of English as a medium of instruction in Public schools. Started as imitators of western models of story writers, the Indian writers writing in English developed their own techniques. They wrote on the topics of indigenous importance.They tried to upload the psychological solutions to the social political economic or psychological crisis faced by locals.
