摘要:In recent decades, the campaign platform of nearly every U.S. presidential hopeful has included a prescription for treating the country’s ailing health care system. It is understandable, however, why any politician would express interest in tackling health care reform considering that trillions of dollars are spent each year on health care, yet nearly 47 million Americans remain uninsured. Furthermore, in the past twenty five years alone, health care costs have increased an average of 9 percent per year, but safety and reliability continue to receive a failing grade. In Chaos and Organization in Health Care, leading Harvard physicians, Thomas Lee and James Mongan, give a fresh perspective into the root cause of the problems seen in health care and offer their treatment plan for a favorable prognosis. Lee and Mongan believe that the solution to all of the chaos present in health care is organization, because “no one can deliver state-of-the-art care to complex, sick patients on their own anymore” (p. 51).
