摘要:In the present study timely and accurate detection of waterlogged areas through remote sensing indicators, along with their characterization and severity classification, in GIS environment has been done to determine the suitability of irrigated production system in Jalgaon district, Maharashtra. The normalized difference water index (NDWI) is done to estimate the extent of surface waterlogging. The one way ANOVA is applied to test the significance of the various classes mean, of waterlogging classification. Delineation of sub surface waterlogged areas is done by Digital Ground Water Depth Model (DWDM) and reclassified into four classes, viz. most critical, critical, less critical and not critical. Highest area (112.70 km2) under seasonal waterlogging and perennial waterlogging (70.37 km2) is found in Girna project. Bori, Bahula and Hatnur commands have significant area under waterlogging. One way ANOVA of five classes of waterlogging classification, with respect to pre and post monsoon season, shows that the seasonal and perennial waterlogging is almost same. DWDM of May and November 2007 shows that most critical areas are present in November months in Waghur catchment area, Girna command area and Bahula command area
