摘要:In this article, the author proposes to make an approach to the time of increased contact and exchange between Catholic Europe and Japan in the Early Modern Age, in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. He arises to find the image of the other in written testimony of the european jesuits, with emphasis on the vision of the Nipponese rulers. The author also analyzes the characteristics of a particular source, the carta annua, and the mentality and background in the Far East of the most important leaders of the Society of Jesus.
