摘要：Atherosclerotic disease of the major extracranial and intracranial arteries is a frequent cause of stroke. Extracranial internal carotid artery stenosis accounts for approximately 25% of all ischemic strokes. Management of carotid bifurcation disease continues to evolve. We had four patients with carotid artery stent-ing (CAS): three males and one female, mean age 66.25 years. There were no serious complications after CAS. Endovascular treatment by stent insertion may be a useful alternative to carotid endarterectomy. CAS per-formed with embolic-protection device can be an effective treatment for patients with carotid artery stenosis
