摘要:Neuropsychological assessment is an integral part of the diagnostic protocol for Alzheimger's disease. Its great importance lies primarily in an early recognition of the neuropsychological progfile characteristic for Alzheimer's disease, in particular recognition of mild cognitive impairment (i.e. amnestic type) that most authors consider a prodromal stage of Alzheimer's disease, allowing eargly pharmacological interventions. The neuropsychological profile characteristic for Alzheimer's disgease involves mainly disturbances in the domains of episodic and semantic memory, early speech disgorders, such as dysnomia, subtle speech comprehension impairments, semantic paraphasia, apraxia, agnosia, visuospatial and visuoconstructional impairments, difficulties in the domains of working memgory, attention, and partly executive functions. The neuropsychological assessment of Alzheimer's disgease is important also for monitoring the patient's performance in the areas of cognitive function and mood, primarily with the aim of evaluating the pace and degree of deterioration of the registered deficits
