摘要：Menopausal women with epilepsy face issues that other women do not need to consider as they mature. Existing data suggest that the gonadal hormones, estrogen and progesteron and the fluctuations of these hormones affect epilepsy. For the women with a catamenial seizure pattern however, an association was found with seizure increase in perimenopause and decrease after menopause. There is a possibility that antiepileptic medication will complicate menopause. Some antiepileptic drugs may increase the risk of osteoporosis and osteomalacia. Currently there is no agreement whether the hormone replacement therapy during menopause and perimenopause is appropriate and safe for women with epilepsy
