  • 摘要:It was the 100thNobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine that was awarded in 2009. It is hard to say which one was more important, but mathematically speaking, each one has contributed by a large piece to the global improvement of the human health and therefore saving innumerable human lives. What is also special about this year is a jubilee 80 years since discovery of the first known antibiotic drug- penicillin. The myth about the power of penicillin is accompanied by the fact that not all the microbes are sensitive to penicillin, some develop resistance to the effects of the drug, and some people are oversensitive to it. The No-bel Laureates in 1945 awarded "for the discovery of penicillin and its curative effect in various infectious di-seases" were the main characters of the myth. The legendary Scottish bacteriologist Sir Alexander Fleming was the leader among them. Today his discovery is hailed as "the greatest contribution medical science ever made to humanity
