摘要：Epilepsy is a prevalent, chronic neurologic disorder that requires a continuing, frequently long-term, treatment. An increasing availability of generic substitutions of antiepileptic drugs (AED) has once again raised the issue of their safety. Clinical experience shows that in some individuals with epilepsy gener-ic antiepileptic substitution may be responsible for breakthrough seizures and/or toxicity despite the prov-en bioequivalence with the innovative original drug. Although study reports and opinions on generic an-tiepileptic substitution vary considerably, there is a consensus among epileptologists that generic substitu-tion of AEDs presents an additional risk for the patient and that it should be used when medically justified
