  • 摘要:Conrad‟s works are not only the expression of a culture or a nation‟s identity bordering on the universal but are the expression of power relations as well. Living in a complicated world where cultural pluralism is affecting artistic production and literary criticism, a twenty-first century reader is forced to put on different lenses in order to analyze and appreciate those works of literature that have the privilege of being called a canonical text. It is true that canonicity is ascribed to those novels, stories or films that “are considered to be genuine or officially sanctioned”2, and that canonicity is largely a subjective concept registering changes with the passage of time.
