摘要：Trans mission Control Protocol (TCP), an important tran sport laye r commu nication protocol, i s typicall y tuned to pe rform we ll in tradi tional wired networks, where Bit Error Rate (BER) is low and con gesti on is the primary cause of packet loss. The emerge nce of various mobile access networks has prompted rese archers to look for suitable modi ficati ons to TCP so as to make it su rvive in th e wi reles s era as well. This article provide s both, th e problems th at arise when TCP is u sed over wi reles s link s an d an in-depth survey of va rious TCP enh ance men ts wh ich are s pecifi cally targeted for these problems . The problem is first characterized by th e be haviour of wireless link s and the aspe cts of TCP operati on th at affect performance. He re the objecti ve is to review the performance issues of TCP variations , whe n employed in the wireless n etworks. Finally, this document e xplores a cate gorized analys is of diffe rent exis ting solutions comparatively, as we all kn ow th at it is difficult t o create a "one size fits all" TCP for wi reles s network s.
