摘要:We all love the sea and ships as well as the activities that are associated with them. The International Journal of Naval History is a vessel designed to offer the readership a journey to the sea and to the world of naval history. In our minds, we all frequently visit the historic maritime world. It is a world we rarely tire of and one that we find both stimulating and pleasing to reflect upon. The publication of the fourth issue of the International Journal of Naval History will take us farther on our excursion to the sea. In this issue, the editors decided to retain Professor John Hattendorf's thought-provoking article on the importance of the U. S. Navy's study of maritime history. We have substantially increased, for the readers, the selection of peer reviews of books representing the best scholarship in the field. We also have a plentitude of community news and announcements to keep you informed of your colleges' work and the important information that promotes our professional interaction. With your help we are on the edge of making the International Journal of Naval History an incredible resource and something that we all can use and be proud to be associated with. We have several substantive articles in the queue for the next issue. We still need to be more successful in convincing our companions to submit articles for publication. Without submissions, our journal is incomplete and our mission is unfulfilled. I would ask that all who visit this web site and use it as a resource to please consider submitting your work for inclusion in future issues
