摘要:Presidential election campaigns have always been a valuable data source for both re- searchers in the fields of political studies or media studies, and journalists covering political topics. The fascination of watching the harsh rivalry between the candidates running for the office makes people spend more time in front of the TV or the computer, in search for infor- mation that, eventually, may or may not influence their vote. It would seem that it is not the content related to the candidates’ political projects that people primarily seek, but the spec- tacle of the electoral confrontation. The candidates whose presence on TV increases signifi- cantly during the campaign become “telePresidents”, true television stars, as the authors mention in the foreword of their book.
