  • 摘要:In this paper we present a comparative study of the rerouting techniquesto implementin a MPLS Network and finally reach a goal to achieve a fail-safe system with minimum loss of packets and lower service disruption.As we know that the IP protocols used today are designed to be robust and are therefore able to re-establish connectivity after almost any failure of network elements. Although connectivity can be re-established, the time it takes to do so might not be in the limit for what is acceptable for high priority services. For services that can't allow interruptions in the order of a few hundred milliseconds like voice over IP this cannot be met by today's Internet. If the network is resilient to failures for these kinds of services, there needs to be mechanisms in the network that can re-establish connectivity faster than the current rerouting techniques used in today's internet. We will simulate some of them using NS2(Network Simulator 2),on the basis of simulation we will discuss various performance factors like packet loss, servi ce disruption, reordering of packets and the overall performance of the network using graphs and tables.
