  • 摘要:Welcome to Volume 5 Issue 4 of the International Journal of Education and Development using Information and Communication Technology (IJEDICT). This Special Issue on eLearning in the Caribbean has been edited by a guest editor ¨CDianne Thurab-Nkhosi and we thank Dianne for suggesting the issue and for her hard work in putting it together. IJEDICT depends totally on the work of volunteers like Dianne and the very many others involved in the editing and reviewing process. And, of course, it depends on the authors who contribute their academic writing skills. All these people are driven by the desire to see knowledge made freely available to alland are brought together to create each issue of IJEDICT.This is the first of two special joint issues of IJEDICT dedicated to Open Access Week. IJEDICT fully supports the open access movement and is demonstrating this with these two special joint issues of the journal designed to deepen the flow of academic knowledge between the Caribbean and Africa.IJEDICT has always had a special relationship with Africa. One of the Chief Editors was working at Cape Town University of Technology when the journal was first started and is now the Director of TISI, an NGO headquartered in Cape Town. And of course, IJEDICT continues to have a very special relationship with the Caribbean because it is published by The University of the West Indies, and the Founding and Managing Editor is located there as a Director in the Open Campus of the University. So what better tribute to Open Access Week than to have two special joint issues of IJEDIC T dedicated to the Caribbean and to Africa
