摘要:This paper addresses a question which has not previously been examined by Canadian researchers; that is, whether firms that receive government assistance are more or less likely to go out of business than firms that do not receive assistance. The question is difficult to answer, and this paper makes no daim to a fully satisfactory understanding of the connection between government assistance and firm failure. However, the initial evidence provided here is a crucial step in developing a complete understanding and may stimulate other researchers to investigate this important issue further.
