摘要：Regional disparity is undoubtedly a complex and highly debated topic. It has attracted broad interest across several disciplines, notably from geography, economics, political science, sociology, international relations and history. Questions regarding whether regional disparities have been reduced or intensified in certain spatial unit have generated considerable attention in the neo-classical model of growth and have been explored by a considerable amount of empirical convergence-divergence research since the early 1990s. Mario Polèse has focused on the fundamental questions of regional disparity in his book that is written in a very different style which is easy to understand and free from technical jargon. As someone who has undertaken research in regional economy in both developing and developed countries, I finished reading this interesting book at one sitting and found some very useful answers in this book.
