摘要:Thisstudyprovidesanoverviewofinter -provincialandinter -industrylabourmobilityinCanadaduringtheperiod1994 -2005.Itillustratestherelativeimportanceofthesetwotypes of mobility in the Canadian economy and specifies a bivariate probit model tojointlyexamine inter -provincialandinter -industrymobility.Regulationssignificantlyre -duce both theprobability ofinter -industrymobility for regulated professions and theprobability of inter -provincial migration for apprentice trades. Although recent immi -grants haveagreaterinter -industry labourmobility rate, theyarelesslikelyto changeindustryorprovincewhen wecontrolforskillmismatch.Regressionresultsshowthatinter -provincialmigrationisrelativelyinsensitivetoincreasesinwagesorafter -taxfami -lyincomes,whilewagedifferentialshaveamuchlargereffectoninter -industrymobili -ty.
