摘要：Social Media(SM)is ever-present in the daily"online" life of an individual and ultimately offers aplatformfor individuals and businesses to interact and communicate. Facebook continues to bethemost popular social media site[2]; however, the use of Twitter and Pinterestison the rise. Social Networking Sites(SNS) provide individuals,especially college students,an outletto share a wealthof information. Yet, questionsarise: are college students still spending as much time using Facebook.Is Facebook stillcollege students'first choice in SMor have they switched to Twitter and Pinterest.The purpose of this study is to determine if college students are using SM as much as they were two-and-a-half years ago.Discerningthe answer to theseresearch questionsinvolved comparing data collected from a Fall 2010dissertation study to survey data collectedduring the Spring 2013semester. The findingsof this explanatory study were significant:social media usageamong college students hasincreased in two-and-a-halfyears,certain demographics influence SMusageandFacebook usage has declined by 38%, which suggestsstudents are seeking and usingother SM technologies.
