其他摘要：A common practice since the end of the 19thcentury, the travels of Portuguese educators to foreignlands increased in the following century, due to the growing awareness of the need to find out about whatwas being done outside Portugal, so as to evaluate the distance travelled and the distance yet to go. The CasaPia de Lisboa, a model institution at national level, was no exception. Therefore, the journey to France by oneof its most eminent teachers, Fernando Pinto Ferreira, raised no doubts, neither to the Casa Pia's Director,who first proposed it, nor to the Minister of the Interior, who authorized it in 1917.
