摘要：Background: Activity of ASHA (AccreditedSocial Health Activist) is one of the keycomponents in the National Rural HealthMission. They can play an important role inidentifying child morbidity at the earliest andimproving their health status.Aims and objectives: 1. To find out theknowledge, attitude and practice of ASHAworkers regarding child health under five yearsof age. 2. To associate their knowledge, attitudeand practice with education level of ASHAworkers. 3. To associate their knowledge,attitude and practice with total duration ofservices as ASHA worker.Materials and Methods: Type of the study:Cross sectional study, Study area/setting: FivePHC of Surendranagar district, Participants &sample size: 130 "ASHA" Workers, sampling:Simple random sampling . Data collection: Pre-designed and pre-tested proformaResults: The mean age of subjects was 27.8 ¡À6.About 70% of them had received secondarylevel of education. Almost 86.2% of ASHAworkers had improper knowledge regarding newborn care. Nearly 70% knew the causes ofdiarrhea but 91.5% of them had no idea aboutsigns of the dehydration. About 68.46% and68.47% had lack of knowledge about measles &pneumonia respectively. Approximately 80.77%knew about signs/symptoms of malaria but59.23% among them did not know what to do ifthe child was having it.Conclusion: Inspite of training which is givento ASHA workers there is still a lacunae left intheir knowledge regarding the various aspects ofmorbidity and mortality of children under 5years of age. So frequency and quality oftraining of ASHA workers must bestrengthened
