摘要:The research elaborates on the satisfaction of basic human needs explained by infant mortality and the relation of national income. The analysis has an austere frame, according to the 1985 article of Joshua S. Goldstein of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The emphasis leans on a nonlinear curve which asymptotically approaches the level close to zero. The points on the diagram represent countries and the values are Gross Domestic Product plotted against Infant Mortality Rate. The curve was named plateau curve by Goldstein. According to his research, I performed a similar study, but mainly diverging on the side of updated datasets and simpler methods of analysis. The analysis was conducted with the help of the Statistical program SPSS version 18, with what I performed scatter diagram-, correlation- and multiple regression analysis. What concerns the structure after a short introduction, elaboration of the previous, base study follows, then description of data collection and methods, then thorough presentation of results follows and at the end conclusions and further base for scholarly debate is plotted.
