摘要:In order to accomplish collaborative product developmentin the ar ea of engineering, a wor k platform is needed tosupport all-sided collaborative work by the differentdevelopment partners at geographically different locations. The platform is established on the basis of a three-tierar ch itectur e which p rovides four advantages overClient/Sever model. First of all, it can improve thecapability and scalability of the development system.Secondly it can enhance the functional reliability. Thirdly it can transfer main management works to applicationservers to reduce the overall expenses. Finally it canincrease the feasibility and development efficiency. In atypical Collaborative Product Development (CPD)scenar io, design work is always over emphasized, whileexpert supervision is paid little attention. So, it isnecessary to build the CPD platform for design andevaluation by Computer-Supported Cooperative Work(CSCW) technology and the Internet technology. Thispaper introduces the system functions, benefits and further challenges. Then key technologies, such as concurr encycontrol mechanism, shared whiteboard collaborativecontrol strategy, are analyzed in detail. It is proved that the system helps to enhance the product developmentefficiency
