摘要：The 20th century concern is the creation of a sustainable society. This means a radical change in how we think and act, forming a proper mentality, friendly to environment, a proper education and public awareness to hoard riches offered by our planet. The environment pollution and protection are now considered major problems facing humanity. Society is becoming increasingly aware that the environment is a precious heritage and is willing to make sacrifices for the sake of the environmen t. Environmental protection is now increasingly integrated into the policies of other fields of activities in order to enable sustainable development. Businesses invest in environmental technologies and public authorities build waste treatment and processing facilities. On the other hand, adopting the principle of "polluter pays" involves the development of environmental protection measures. Within this context, projects represent one of the main instruments for achieving environmental protection society aspirations. Internet documentation allowed me to identify sources of financing environmental projects in Romania. Comparative analysis of funding sources for environment highlights their diversity, the focus being mainly on grants, especially European funds. SOP Environment is one of the most important programs in terms of operational and financial allocation and represents the most important source of funding for the environment. Funding can also be achieved through the LIFE+ program of the Environment Fund or Global Environment Facility. The case study accomplished after a research done at the Neamt County Water Serv Company, highlights the features of the environmental projects for water field and the variety of sources for funding them.
