- 摘要:IncreasinglevelsofmicroprocessorpowerdissipationcallfornewapproachesatthearchitecturallevelthatsaveenergybybettermatchingofonchipresourcestoapplicationrequirementsSelectivecachewaysprovidestheabilitytodisableasubsetofthewaysinasetassociativecacheduringperiodsofmodestcacheactivitywhilethefullcachemayremainoperationalformorecacheintensiveperiodsBecausethisapproachleveragesthesubarraypartitioningthatisalreadypresentforperformancereasonsonlyminorchangestoaconventionalcachearerequiredandthereforefullspeedcacheoperationcanbemaintainedFurthermorethetradeobetweenperformanceandenergyisexibleandcanbedynamicallytailoredtomeetchangingapplicationandmachineenvironmentalconditionsWeshowthattradingoasmallperformancedegradationforenergysavingscanproduceasignicantreductionincacheenergydissipationusingthisapproach
