摘要：Gender inequality and persistent power imbalancesbetween men and women increase women'svulnerability to the HIV epidemic. Over thirty yearsinto the epidemic, women and girls are still at a higherrisk of HIV infection and shoulder a disproportionateburden of the impact of HIV. Women represent 50% of people living with HIVglobally and 59% of people living with HIV in sub-Saharan Africa.1The situation is particularly acute foryoung women in sub-Saharan Africa where theyrepresent 72% of the 15-24 year olds living with HIV.2In some regions where women do not represent themajority of people living with HIV, there have beenincreases in the proportion of women living with HIVover the last ten years
