摘要：Understanding a society depends on understanding its culture. The fact that “each society is unique” provided a ground for many studies to be done, and made these studies interesting. Among others, works of Bronislaw Malinowski stand out. He was inter- ested in the origins of culture, defined functions of culture, for the first time revealed the techniques of cultural research scientifical- ly, and in total created a theory of culture. Although his theory has been criticized in some ways, it is of importance for sociolo- gists and social anthropologists.
