摘要:The emergence of the modern ind ustrial sector in Malaysia is closely linked with the entry of fo reign direct investment (FDI). After 1968, the Investment Promotion Act was introduced with a focus o n the development of exp ort-oriented industries, the Free Trade Zo ne (Free Ind ustrial Zo ne) has been constructed at several locations in this cou ntry to attract fo reign direct investment. Foreig n d irect investment h as played an importan t role fo r more than three decad es in th e process of industrialization in this coun try. However, industrial growth was found to exhibit a pattern that is not evenly distributed over space. There was a highly developed sta te while there is a far behind in terms of inflows of foreign investment and the level of industrial development. Although previously considered state of Keda h edge of the area known as the 'National Rice Bowl' b ecause of the lack of industrial development in this state, bu t a fter the 19 90s, this states began to show th e transition from the regio n that received less investment to receive higher inflows of investment in man ufacturing industrial sector. These views are closely lin ked with the strategies o f h igh techno logy park in Kulim as a crucial mechanism to attra ct fo reign investment in high value activities in this state. This article traces the pattern and trend of foreign direct investment in the industria l sector gen erally in Keda h and particularly in Kulim High Technolog y to assess the extent of strategic high technology park and attraction of high techno logy park locatio n has played an impo rtant role in the development of industry in th is state and also assess the challenges ahead
