摘要：Human being has number of functions to be perform like to write, to speak, to read and more many. Can machine replicate these all functions of human being. The answer is yes. Though, over the last many years, machine reading, writing, speaking have grown from a dream to reality. To recognize pattern and identify character can be possible by one of the successful technique is Optical character recognition. So in this paper how machine can replicate the function of human being like reading is described in detail. For character recognition optical character recognition is used and for edge detection Gabor filter is used. Just like human visual system, Frequency and orientation representations of Gabor filters are similar. Same concept I have applied for number plate identification
