摘要：Agro-industry is a very important factor of the whole economic system of the Republic of Serbia. After theWorld War II, in spite of the enormous potential in agricultural resources that Serbia has, the mostimportant sector for the development of Serbia was the industrial sector. Agriculture became less and lessimportant. Facilities for the processing of agricultural products was modernized at the same time,therefore during the seventies a basic position was taken that Agro-industry represents .YugoslavianEconomy's hope.. During the eighties a hold up in growth of all macroeconomic indicators wasrecorded, and because of the well-known events on the territory of the former Yugoslavia (SocialistFederal Republic of Yugoslavia) at the beginning and during the nineties, Agriculture and Agro-industryas well as the whole Economy fell into serious difficulties. However, today Agriculture and Agro-industrythat remained preserved (first of all, their infrastructure) could become an important support to the futureeconomic development
