摘要:Introduction: Superstition is a fo rm of fear. It is also a sign of igno rance. People who succeed keep o pen minds and are not afraid of anyt hing. Purpose: The assessment of the current view to t raditional superst itio ns Material and methods: The study group included 350 persons age 20-80 years. Participants were randomly selected among residents o f Podlask ie province. Data were collect ed on a questionnaire t hat was developed by researchers. Results: Most of t he respondents (83.2%) agreed with the statement that the great importance fo r the development o f hu man nature is the zo diac sign. Almost all (91.2%) read their horosco pes in news-papers. According to 81.6% of the respondents, they believe that some dates, specific days of the week, and certain numbers bring bad luck. Half of the respondents believed in telepathy, 33.4% in possessio n by the devil, 74.8% in astrolo gy, and 28% in magic. Conclusions: Among t he respondents, believing in superst itions is quite commo n and diverse. The majo rity of respondent s believe that the zodiac sig n influences human nature. Mo st o f the respondents believe that some dates, specific days o f t he week, and certain numbers bring bad luck. Interest ingly, the respondents rarely u se the advice o f fortune-tellers
