摘要:The present paper explores the common thread running through the three cultural, textual and psychological phenomena of cosmopolitanism, inter-narrativity and cultural empathy. Dismantling all hegemonic discourses, it perceives these as fluid and inclusive. Examining Caryl Phillips' The Nature of Blood(1997) and Zadie Smith's White Teeth(2000) through the theoretical framework of cosmopolitanism as expounded by theorists like Kwame Anthony Appiah and Stuart Hall, it argues for an empathic understanding of diverse cultures and an approach of inter-narrativity in the discourses of epistemology
