摘要:Although gastric cancer incidence decreases worldwide, it is still the second most common cause of cancer-related death. The trend of steady decline in gastric cancer incidence rates has been observed around the world. A change in incidence of adenocarcinoma of the stomach may be largely explained by increased standards of hygiene, improved food conservation, a high intake of fruit and vegetables and also by Helicobacter pylori eradication. Prevention of gastric cancer should remain a high priority. Surgical resection with a lymphadenectomy is still the gold standard for gastric cancer treatment. New insights into the molecular background of gastric cancer have lead to a better understanding of gastric cancer and may lead to discoveries of novel and more effective diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic methods. This review summarises the literature about gastric cancer
