Working activity is a form of social rehabilitation of the disabled people. This kind of activity induces compensatory mechanisms and makes the positive influence on the process of restoring and keeping social relationships, improving physical and mental state as well as financial situation of the disabled people. This is important not only for the disabled ones, but for society, too. The society is interested in using their life experiences and their working capabilities to reduce financial charges being an effect of increasing number of disabled men looking for fi nancial assistance. The aim of this investigation was to study selected factors influencing rational employment of disabled people with different stages and dynamics of disability escalation.

Material and methods. We inquired 446 people being disabled due to urogenital neoplasms. The material was obtained by using specially-designed questionnaire.

Results. According to the obtained data, the percentage of professionally active men in the group of disabled patients suffering from urogenital neoplasms was determined as equal to 43.8. There was noticed statistically signifi cant relationship between working activity of disabled people and the site of neoplasmatic process. This staffi ng level in the group of disabled people is infl uenced both by subjective and by objective factors. The objective ones include the kind of working activity, workload, working conditions and organisation which should be adequate to disabled workers’ needs and possibilities. Subjective one – motivation to work being dependent on readiness to work, fi nancial situation of disabled people, distance between the place of living and a place of employment and aspirations to keep the prestige in families as well as keeping active social life with other workers. The main cause that makes disabled people avoid working activity is the severe degree of disability. The close relationship between working activity and age of the disabled subjects was noticed. The majority of disabled people being unemployed had got only a secondary education. The working activity depends on the kind of work carried out prior the period of disability.

Conclusions. The working activities of the disabled subjects due to urogenital neoplasms depend on the following factors: working skills, the degree of a disability, age, character of a job being done prior the period of disability and subjective factors. Statistically signifi cant dependences of this factors were noticed. The results can be used while giving working recommendations.
