Practical teaching of a profession is very important in medical education. The task of students is to apply their knowledge and skills in a direct contact with patients. As there are no models nor theoretical materials concerning the organization of nursing internships during 3-year licentiate vocational studies, a survey was conducted to study the effectiveness of education.
The questionnaire was filled by 149 patients treated in hospitals in the following provinces: kujawsko-pomorskie, pomorskie, zachodnio-pomorskie, warmińsko-mazurskie and wielkopolskie.
Patients were asked about their expectations and the assessment of professional qualifications and personality of nurses. Evaluating the character traits predisposing to the nursing profession, the respondents most often mentioned responsibility and an attitude of care, good manners and friendliness.
