We can improve children’s lifestyle, health conditions and quality of their life, if we provide health knowledge, develop appropriate skills, form desirable opinions and attitudes towards health.
Health education is the most profitable, long-term investment in the health of the society. The aim is to help children to make decision concerning their development, health and creating a healthy lifestyle.
There is a great need to provide health education for people from rural areas. According to the research, which has been done with the State Committee for Scientific Research, the lifestyle in rural areas has been found not to be as healthy as in urban areas.
Rural teenagers more often tend to drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes, eat unreasonably. The knowledge concerning health and factors which have disastrous effects on health is worse among rural children and teenagers than among their urban peers. Health conditions are also worse in rural areas.
It has been indicated in this study that there is a great need for health education among rural teenagers, both at school and at home.
