The nurses and midwives constitute a group of professionals who provide services in the sphere of prophylaxis and the promotion of health. That is why it was decided to get to know their opinions regarding breast self- control taught by them.
The research was carried out among 93 nurses and 56 midwives. To collect the data there was a self-made survey used. The participation in the survey was completely voluntary and anonymous and the participants were randomly selected.
The research showed that:
1. The majority of respondents (144, i.e. 96.6%) thought that the education towards breast self-control should be conducted by medical personnel.
2. Midwives delivered information on breast self-control (91.1%) and taught the techniques more often (73.2%) than nurses (58.1% and 34.4% respectively).
3. According to the respondents their knowledge was sufficient for their needs
