There is a real threat of terrorist attack, including the use of biological weapon in the contemporary world. The deliberate use of microorganisms and toxins as weapons has been attempted throughout history. The situation compelled the international community to undertake activities aiming to limit manufacturing, storing, and consequently, to eliminate biological weapon entirely. 152 countries signed the 1972 Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, and Stockpiling of Bacteriological and Toxin Weapons and on Their Destruction, which is still the most important document in force. Despite the existence of such agreements, some countries explore biological agents as a potential threat that can be used as weapon of mass destruction. The aim of our study was to evaluate the level of knowledge on bioterrorism among students. 273 students anonymously completed the questionnaire. The questionnaire, developed by the authors, included 18 questions. The survey results point out clearly that students’ knowledge on bioterrorism is insufficient.
