The presented paper is a result of the questionnaire research conducted in the city of Lublin in randomly chosen patients of dental offices. According to the results, we could evaluate the ways and effectiveness of health promotion at dental offices provided by doctors and other medical staff. An anonymous questionnaire was the research tool. The majority of patients who visited dental offices were women (69%), city inhabitants (77%), people with high school education (53%) and master’s degree (47%). 80% of patients estimated their knowledge of disease prophylaxis and hygiene as good. 61% of the respondents used medical staff advice. In patients’ opinion (66%), this is the most convincing form to obtain information about the disease. However, only 31% of patients receive it during medical consultations. 43% of patients living in cities and only 20% of rural patients visit dentists systematically. For the majority of patients (65%), an already present health problem was the reason to visit the dentist. Patients expect from doctors medical help, including full information about the disease (43%), as well as the knowledge about the healthy lifestyle and hygiene of the oral cavity (31%).
