A partir da década de 1990 surgiu um novo segmento turístico direcionado ao entendimento e contempla..o de aspectos naturais negligenciados pelo ecoturismo, tais como o patrim.nio geológico, geomorfológico, petrológico, mineiro, tect.nico, paleontológico, etc.: o geoturismo. A preocupa..o em identificar e visitar áreas com atrativos geoturísticos tem como respaldo a necessidade de se conservar e valorizar aspectos do patrim.nio natural que permitem entender, entre outros, a forma..o do planeta Terra e a gênese das formas de relevo, atribuindo ao turismo n.o só um caráter de contempla..o, mas também um caráter educativo. Já a geoconserva..o é um ramo da atividade científica que tem como objetivo a caracteriza..o, conserva..o e gest.o do patrim.nio natural abiótico de grande relevancia para a sociedade. Infere-se que a geoconserva..o tem como aliado o geoturismo, este sendo uma ótima oportunidade de promo..o do patrim.nio natural abiótico, sensibilizando o público em geral para a importancia de sua conserva..o
其他摘要：The objective of this research is to show the geotourism as important instrument in the promotion, valorization and conservation of the abiotic natural heritage and the methodology applied was de bibliographic review according to the theme. After 90's decade, a new tourism segment was born, which were related to understanding and contemplation of the natural aspects not considered by the ecotourism, as the heritage related to geologic, geomorphologic, petrologic, mines, tectonic, paleontology, fossil etc.: the geotourism. The idea about to identify and visit areas with geotouristics attractions is based on the necessity of to conserve and value to the aspects of the natural heritage, which permit understand the formation of the Planet Earth and the genesis of the relief forms, attributing to the tourism not only a character of the contemplation, but also a educational aspect. The geoconservation is a part of the scientific activities and its objectives are the characterization, conservation and managing of the abiotic natural heritage with relevance to the society. The geotourism is the great one partner of the geoconservation, what is a good one opportunity for promotion the abiotic natural heritage, showing to the general public its importance and the necessity of its conservation
