  • 摘要:Heme oxygenase-1(HO-1) is a key enzyme in the antioxidative metabolism, the expression of which is induced by various factors. In human cells, it affects antioxidants, anti-apoptosis, and cell proliferation regulation. Thus, it is closely related to a number of diseases, including ischemia/reperfusion injury, cancer, and diabetes. This study shows that there are three polymorphic sites in the promoter region of HO-1. Previous studies have focused on the GT repeat sequences, which are divided into S-type, M-type, and L-type, according to the length of repetitive sequences (S-type, with its protective polymorphic site, has higher activity than the others). However, results from different populations are not consistent, which may be due to the diversity of genetic factors found amongst different populations
