摘要：Needs and resources are really two sides of the same coin. In order to get a comprehensive view of your community, it is important to look at what you have and what you need. With these things in mind, you can have a positive impact on the problem you wish to address. Understanding the community's needs and assets will also help the organization for efficient output of the intervention. This paper deals with the concept and meaning of needs and resources, decision making process of assessing local needs and resources are discussed in detail. Community participation and engagement plays a pivotal role in assessing needs and resources is discussed in detailed. The process of developing a plan for assessing local needs and resources, developing a comprehensive plan, designing an evaluation process, use of available data etc are putforth in detail. Various sources of data, types of data and use of data are also discussed in detail in this paper.
